Mountain View Regional Film Office gears up for a big year

February 26, 2025

The Mountain View Regional Film Office (MVRFO) is ready for a busy year.

After a jam-packed 2024 winning awards and all kinds of productions taking place, the film office is ready for the same in 2025.

The MVRFO is a partnership between Didsbury, Sundre, and Mountain View County that helps bring film companies to the area.

Alexandra Ross, the Economic Development Officer for the town of Disbury and Jon Allen the Economic Development Officer for the town of Sundre talked to Discover Airdrie about how busy they have been since their inception.

“Didsbury had five different productions, Sundre had a few as well, and we have also seen quite the increase of inquiries for productions wanting to be filmed in the area,” stated Ross.

Wynonna Earp, The Order and Fargo season five all had scenes in the Didsbury area. Among other productions, one episode of Abracadavers was filmed in the area.

“We are going from basically a next-to-nothing film industry to now having multiple inquiries a year,” shared Allen when talking about Sundre. “We are already seeing dividends paid for in particular in the town of Sundre and that’s just our little town. When you include Didsbury and its vast success with bigger-budget productions. The MVRFO has already paid for itself essentially which is amazing.”
